Pregnancy

Chiropractic care can play an important role in your pregnancy and your bodies preparation and recovery from birth. New hormones (relaxin) make your body more stretchy during pregnancy to make space for your baby, but this can mean you are more sensitive to small injuries. These can present as pain/discomfort commonly referred to as PGP (Pelvic Girdle Pain) or SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction), but can include problematic areas anywhere in the body.

The balance of joints, muscles and ligaments are important for your comfort and for creating space and balance to help your baby optimise their position.

The importance of creating this balance, making space for the growing baby and calming and regulating the mother’s nervous system is so important and something I'm keen for every pregnant
woman to benefit from.

“I have witnessed women enjoy their pregnancy journey with chiropractic care and the impact of helping a new baby settle into the world is far reaching for the entire family, as well as the child’s life”.

I use my training in these specialised techniques within my care of pregnant women:

The Webster Technique - certified is a chiropractic specific analysis and adjustment technique of the pregnant woman's pelvis. The goal is to reduce the effects of pelvic imbalance.

Body Ready Method - certified BRM® Pro.

BRM is based on 5 pillars of the body and movement patterns. Incorporating these pillars into your movement during pregnancy can help:

- Have a more efficient birth
- Minimise pregnancy aches and pains
- Optimise recovery
- Minimise unnecessary abdominal separation and pelvic floor dysfunction
- Optimise pelvic floor responsiveness
- Work smarter not harder!

Spinning Babies - Trained/Enthusiast. Pregnancy preparation, Self-care and specific body activities restore body balance and make room for the baby.

Postnatal

Post-natally, your body continues to experience a symphony of changes as it adapts to your baby being in the outside world. The positions of holding, changing and feeding your growing baby are all new to you and can create strain/tension/small injuries once more. It took 9 months to grow and bring your baby into the world, it will take your body time to recover from this.

Once more, the gentle Chiropractic approach can assist your joints, muscles, ligaments and nervous system to adapt in the most optimal way
for you.
